Free online social groups during lockdown with funding from London Community Response

Published by Helena on

Happily recognises that it is more important than ever before to stay connected with friends online safely during this difficult time. That’s why the project is hosting FREE online social sessions for adults with learning disabilities for the next three months.  This activity is FREE and open to all adults with a learning disability or autism living in our coverage area.

Happily is delighted to have received emergency funding from the London Community Response Fund which has made this work possible. To date, the online socials have seen participants take part in quizzes, baking and cocktail hour. The socials create a fun and safe environment for participants to make new friends while receiving support from volunteers.

The happily socials are already having a positive impact. Our wonderful online community is very supportive and it’s fantastic to see everyone regularly coming together to enjoy themselves. Keeping social is so important and I know that for some, our group is the highlight of the week! It’s certainly something that our volunteers and I always look forward to.

Feedback from attendees has also been positive with one happily member commenting:

“It was nice to see everyone and have a good chat!! I would love to do some more as it’s a great way to keep in touch with people.”

Emma, 27.
